Russell's Messaging Reference Guide of Justice
Edited for great justice (or, maybe just to fit maximum member-to-member messaging info in this post)!
This is your quick & easy reference guide to MOSH's new PM feature:
- When you sign-in on the front page, you should see a green envelope in the top right-hand corner of your screen.
- Clicking on the envelope will lead you to your inbox, where messages from other MOSHers can be accessed. You can also access the inbox from your "my MOSH" page.
- There's a counter underneath the envelope that will let you know if you have new messages. MOSH robots will also e-mail/SMS you if someone has sent you a message. If that doesn't jive, head to your profile settings and change your alerts options...we'll stop bothering you.
- There's a small white envelope icon next to every username, and all you need to do is click on it to open a message box and type away.
- Unfortunately, users who own Nokia 3250, 5500, E50, E60, E61, E61i, E62, E65, E70, N71, N73, N75, N77, N80, N91, N92, N93 and N93i (members of the S60 3.0 family) devices have a problem with SMS alerts.
- When you receive an SMS alerting you to a new message in your MOSH inbox, it contains a link that takes you directly to that message. However, clicking the link on one of the devices listed above will launch the "services" browser instead of the "Web" browser.
- The "Services" browser will render the MOSH site differently than the "Web" browser because it's less powerful.
- Also, the "Services" browser will make you login to MOSH again.
Yeah, that's pretty annoying. For now, I'd suggest the following:
1) Once you receive an SMS from MOSH, close it and launch your "Web" browser, head to MOSH (http://mosh.nokia.mobi), login and view your message (instead of clicking on the link)
2) If it's too bothersome, you can change alerts preferences in your profile settings to keep MOSH from sending you SMS.
Remember that this issue only affects the devices listed above.
